This is where I'm spending 5 days a week...

Axis & Globe is a private limited company based in London, which sells accommodation and activities in the UK and Ireland to agencies for groups. They have another office in Barcelona that deals with individual demands. Regarding incentives, they recently stopped to provide this service as it's very competitive and low profitable.

No matter what we say, this B2B activity of Tour Operating has been flourishing through the past years since the number of multi-lingual operators I'm working with increases and varies. From Swedish and Italian to Spanish and French colleagues, I can see that London being their main product attracts a myriad of travellers...

# First month :

As an intern, I came in the middle of the Summer Season so it's hard to pick up the pace ! On the top of that, they work with their own booking software, called TourPlan and every piece of information is coded and sent to either the client (agent) and/or the supplier (eg : hotel, city cruise, warner bro, encore tickets, Madame Tussauds, restaurants, etc). During this exchange of information (option, confirmation, amendment), I assist Axis & Globe's operators to contact hotels and attraction to check if they have availibility. Then, I create a reference number and enter in TP the options that match the demand so that my colleague can finalize the payment with both parts. Another main task is to deliver tickets to hotels every Friday. Let's hope I can have more responsibilities in the coming months ! [Some details on weekly posts]

# Second month :

At this stage of the "stage" (internship in French), I notice that I am asked more interesting tasks such as looking for hotels according to budget and location in the United Kingdom (Stratford-upon-Avon, the Lake District, Edinburgh, Manchester, etc). In fact, colleagues are stopping to tell me which ones to contact and let me think about it with the Accommodation Chart and the website Booking.com. Besides, I can assist to meetings they have with sales representatives of hotels and/or attractions. These people come to the office to present their company and try to promote their new products and/or services they would like us to offer to the client as 'a special price'... It's all about negociation and we usually get free tickets to test  ! [Check out on the posts]

# Third month

More and more autonomy... more or less the same tasks such as hotel requests, ticket deliveries and other trade nights to theatres...

However, I could do something on my own - an assistance to a French group of 43 Harry Potter fans, coming to London to visit the Warner Bro Studios. [Read this article -->  Working Saturday... #assistance]

# Fourth month

Final time to demonstrate to colleagues that they could trust me and it worked out as I managed somehow to send booking confirmations and official payment requests on behalf of them!

This final month was also the opportunity to join them on hotel site inspections also called 'showrounds' during which we were shown twin, doucle, single rooms  in hotels but also 6-bed dorms or more if it was a hostel. I could finally picture the product I was selling for the past 3 months !

A final word : challenging !
